This arrangement was made as a result of the problems faced by the apex bank in respect of incessant claims being made by Contractors and which have till date remained unsettled. The Apex Bank then designated various Banks to assist it in its responsibility to the customers who have genuine claims.Consequently,various payment files were forwarded to our bank for effective payment. But due to protocol,which occasioned unnecessary delays, the funds earmarked for the settlement of these claims,and lodged in our bank for over 24 months,have accrued some interest which was discovered during our auditing exercise for the year ended December 2006. I am writing you primarily to reach a mutual understanding with you to enable me approve the accumulated interest totaling US$3,430,800.00(Three Million,Four Hundred and Thirty Thounsand,Eight Hundred United States Dollars Only) for immediate payment to you.Note that cost of transfer will be deducted from the amount to be transferred. The Central Bank of Nigeria is not aware of this accrued interest and rather than adding it to the original sum, I can arrange for you to receive this interest without unnecessary protocol before they will give us a go ahead to pay beneficiaries next month.I need just four bank working days to get this payment transferred to the account you shall provide for me. This proposed agrreement between us is however subject to a mutual understanding that,as soon as the payment of the interest is effected,and confirmed in your possession,I shall receive a share of 60% of this sum,while you will have 35% for your efforts,while the remaining 5% will be used to settle whatever expenses may arise from executing this transaction.
